Recipe for Design Disaster

In this post we will describe how a small business can destroy its reputation and business by making bad design choices:

  1. Hiring a bad logo design company.


    Logo design is the most essential tool in any businesses’ brand building strategy. Hiring a bad logo design company would result into a bad logo that would be ineffective in a business’s attempt to build and identity for itself in the market.

  2. A horrible web design.


    With the arrival of free content management system, every tom, dick, and harry thinks that they can create their own website. Well yes you can, but your website will be in effective, pathetic and most users would click away from your website because of your design deficiency. Besides that one needs to realize that it is the job of a web designer to build websites because they know how to do it. Reading some web design blog will not make you a web designer. To do a web design right one needs experience, expertise and essentially the sense of the web as a media.

  3. Designing their own marketing material.


    Same as above though this implies that a business starts designing their brochures and banners using MS paint. I have seen small businesses that buy the mind bogglingly expansive Adobe graphic editing software and start doing their own graphics without any knowledge of fine arts, design and graphic design software. Come on people wake up! Instead of buying a $2000 software you can hire some one to do your banner design for as low as $40.
